Discover Verona in one day! Few cities in the world can be as romantic as the Romeo and Juliet’s one: one of the best options for a romantic day in Italy.
After a two hour drive (leaving from Milan) Verona will welcome you with its antique charm. Your private driver will take you directly to the Arena square, heart of the historical center.
The city is not only the setting of the Shakespearean tragedy, but it is also been declared from the UNESCO part of the World Heritage. It set its origins in the Roman Age, boasting up to two millenniums of history.
Your driver-guide will be happy to give you information about the best sites to visit and will be happy to take you to the entrances, once there, you can freely decide which ones to enter or sped some time to browse around in the historical center, do some shopping and visit the local workshops.
The city most famous monument is the Arena, built during the first century AD, is the symbol of the city. It was born with the purpose of hosting concerts and plays, and it still does! You can enjoy the visit inside the arena, where your guide will let you learn about its antique origin and how it has been used during the centuries.
Passing through the Roman Borsari’s gate you will reach the historical city center, then reach the Lamberti’s Tower in Piazza delle Erbe, the antique Roman Foro. The tower was built by the important Lamberti family during 11th century. Together with your guide you will discover the complete history of these buildings and what they represents on today. Depending on the opening times, it is possible to climb on top of the tower by the narrow steps or the elevator, reach the top and admire the breathtaking view of Verona from a privileged prospective.
Just next to Piazza delle Erbe you will find Piazza dei Signori, known also as Piazza Dante because of the presence of a Dante Alighieri’s statue in the middle of it. The square is surrounded by monumental buildings linked by arches and loggias.The next important point of interest is the Maria Matricolare’s Cathedral, it is the main church of the city and a great example of Romanic architecture. Here you can find the Titian masterpiece: The Assumption of the Virgin.
The tour will pass by Juliet’s house where you can admire the famous balcony, and the Juliet’s bronze statue (which you should touch for good luck!).
During your day in Verona, you can stop to some local restaurants (your driver guide can make reservations for you) and taste the local dishes, paired with some great wine. The region is famous for the Amarone and Bardolino red wines.
After lunch and some other free time in Verona, your private driver will collect you and drive back to Milan, at your hotel (or custom destination).
