Pisa and Lucca Day-Trip from Florence

Discover with us the beauty of Pisa and Lucca! Departing from Florence (or your custom location in the area) your personal driver will take you to a 1.5h ride heading to Pisa. Here he will take you to a tour of the most famous city points of interest.

Pisa, the tower city

Obviously, you will have the chance to admire the Leaning tower of Pisa located in the Square of Miracles together with the Pisa Cathedral, Baptistery and the Monumental Cemetery. The holy meadow and its idyllic atmosphere will welcome you: here you can decide either to enjoy some free time in the wide field between the buildings or to climb 296 steps of the tower and have a sight of the beautiful Square from a privileged point of view.

Lucca, the medieval city

After a short drive departing from Pisa, your personal driving-guide will welcome you to Lucca. This town is famous for its medieval city-walls very well conserved and the Guinigi tower. The walls encircling the old city remained intact even if the city has expanded during the centuries. Nowadays they became a pedestrian path as it is very nice walk along. The gates through the walls are very-well conserved too. Within the walls there is the Guinigi tower with its characteristic trees on top of it.

The Antfiteatro square is located in the Lucca historical center and with its oval shape gives you the feeling to be more than welcome. Here you can relax in one of the bars facing the square where you can enjoy the typical Italian break: an espresso or a good ice cream. During this day-trip you can decide any moment where to stop in order to have lunch or a wine tasting in one of the good winery. The driving-guide who knows very well the area, will be happy to suggest a good place for your needs.

At the end of this two-cities Tuscany tour your personal driver will take you back to your hotel in Florence after a one hour drive.

PisaCathedral and leaning tower

Enjoy the visit of the world-famous leaning tower and the cathedral at “Piazza dei Miracoli”.

Archaeological remains from the fifth century BC confirmed the existence of a city at the sea, trading with Greeks and Gauls. The presence of an Etruscan necropolis, discovered during excavations in the Arena Garibaldi in 1991, confirmed its Etruscan origins.

The Piazza del Duomo also houses the Duomo (the Cathedral), the Baptistry and the Campo Santo (the monumental cemetery).

LuccaThe medieval city

Lucca was founded by the Etruscans and became a Roman colony in 180 BC.

At the Lucca Conference, in 56 BC, Julius Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus reaffirmed their political alliance known as the First Triumvirate.

Lucca had been the second largest Italian city state (after Venice) with a republican constitution to remain independent over the centuries. In 1805, Lucca was conquered by Napoleon, who installed his sister Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi as “Princess of Lucca”.
