Discover the beauty of Lake Como – the most elegant lake in the Lake District, the spectacular views, the fascinating town of Bellagio and its authentic villas. The best way to travel from Milan to Lake Como. Your tour will begin with your private driver collecting you from your hotel in Milan, within an hour, you will reach Lake Como and continue driving along the panoramic lake road SS340 to reach your first tour site: Villa Balbianello, only a few minutes away from George Clooney’s property and Richard Branson’s estate.
You will start a guided visit of the one-of-a-kind estate, built on a small peninsula surrounded by the lake.
The property was lastly owned by one of the Italian greatest explorers and philanthropists: Guido Monzino. Villa Balbianello hosts the Expeditions Museum with artworks collected by Monzino during his travels all over the world. The estate is also famous for being part of the setting of Martin Campbell’s 007 Casino Royale (2006) movie. The property was then donated to the FAI (Italian Trust for Arts) which currently manages it.
After this visit, you will then proceed with a car-ferry ride* to the famous town of Bellagio where you can enjoy some free time, enjoying the stunning view while having lunch at one of the local cafes and restaurants or shop at world-class stores and admire the centuries-old architecture of the buildings.
You can also decide to include a private boat tour from Villa Balbianello to Bellagio, on an elegant venetian-style wooden made motorboat, together with a professional captain (you may add that as an optional service on the checkout page)
If time allows you can also visit villa Melzi d’Eril, an 1800’s neoclassical building with a vast English-style beautiful garden.
After lunch, the tour will conclude and your private driver will take you back to your hotel in Milan or other selected location.

My husband and I wanted to explore Italy in winter. We decided to take this private tour to Lake Como. We were warned that the most of restaurants and shops would be closed but we were not worried about that. It turned out to be an amazing day, not very warm of course but we enjoyed our day to Bellagio with no other turists around. A real genuine experience. Hope we manage to come back soon in summer time too!
