We will be visiting one of the most authentic local producers of Barolo wine, out from the turistic paths, in order to get an authentic local experience.
Barolo be produced only within the precise area of 11 small villages, in a very small and controlled territory. This is the only way to obtain the ‘DOCG’ trademark, which proves the certified and guaranteed area of production. Barolo is often described as having the aromas of tar and roses, and the wines are noted for their ability to age and usually take on a rust red tinge as they mature. Barolo needs to be aged for at least 36 months after the harvest before release, of which at least 18 months must be in wood.
The winery sommelier will illustrate the different ‘CRUs’ of Barolo, namely the different portion of the Barolo territory give birth to important differences in the taste, color and smell of this amazing wine.
To mention some, one portion of land facing south will receive a more intense sun exposition and that specific wine land harvest will have a deeper taste and sweeter fruity aftertaste. Or, by contrary, another cru facing east or north, will receive less sunlight, giving wine a slightly bitter taste, higher acidity level and aftertastes that reminds of lime fruit, green apple or ginger.
This is just one of the many details that make Barolo DOCG so special, the king of Italian wines. This guided tasting session will be paired with a buffet of local food products, in order to maximize the tasting experience.
Admire the the infinite vineyard landscapes, touching the real local products: the grapes and the aging barrels, tasting wine and local Italian food and, smelling the infinite details of these rich and deep wines, last but not least listening and learn about the wine production and aging processes.

Wine tour in Alba was excellent. We had a lot fun at the first winery, Loris is a real character and we learnt a lot! Nebbiolo and Barolo are our favourite Italian wines, and that was just the right place!
Our journey actually began in Nice, France, where our Italy Discover Tours driver, Simone, arrived bright-eyed and bushy tailed to transport us to Alba, Italy. This was the first of many times I felt that Italy Discovery Tours team went out of their way to provide us with the most hospitable and amazing customer service! Simone was with us for 3 and a half days, and made our trip so easy and enjoyable. He was always on time, courteous, professional, his English was great and I understand he speaks other languages as well. He added a lot of highlights to the trip, offering information along the way and a charming fun personality, we shared a lot of laughs and made great memories.
Our first destination was the Winery, nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of Piedmont. The wine makers were so gracious and informative, we tasted some exceptional wines and were treated to an amazing lunch at the winery! They even made a special vegan meal for my daughter, which she really appreciated and everything they served was absolutely authentic, delicious and presented with care and finesse.
