Truffle Hunting, Cooking Class and Wine Tasting
Truffle hunting experience from Milan will strike all your foodie instincts. Your personal driver will collect you in Milan, heading to south-west, through the agricultural and rural areas of Piedmont, you will reach Alba in 2 hours. The kingdom of Piedmont wines, white truffle and hazelnuts.
In Alba you will meet your tour-guide and a well experienced truffle hunter who will let you discover the secrets of his century-old profession, together with his dog, the real prowess of his job. He will take you for walk in the typical woods of the Roero region, explaining you some of the secrets of truffle hunting, you will learn which kind of trees help truffles to grow, what is the best kind of soil for them and how to spot them, together with the priceless help of the truffle dog. As you walk through the trees, watch the dog snuffles around to detect treats hidden beneath the forest floor. Then, feel the thrill as the dog strikes gold and rapidly digs for the edible treasure.
Exclusive Truffle Lunch
The leading path of this tour is nature and its authentic products. Following those ideas, after the hunt, we will walk back to the local truffle hunter house: a charming traditional stone building where the attention to details is combined with the genuineness of the past, for an exclusive and authentic 3-course genuine local lunch.
- Starters: peppers with bagna cauda, anchovies with parsley and garlic source, cured meats and cheeses
- Homemade pasta with truffle sauce
- Eggs with black truffle
All the dishes are paired with a special selection of Langhe and Roero wines: Nebbiolo, Dolcetto D’Alba and Arneis. A licensed sommelier present and explain their characteristics. If weather allows, the chef will serve lunch on a porch, otherwise inside the building.
Dessert Cooking Class
After lunch, together with the chef, you will have a cooking class focused on dessert, and of course enjoy your own-prepared products. The desert will be paired with some Roero-wines grappa (grape-based pomace brandy), together with a detailed description by a professional Sommelier of the theory of pairing related to the characteristics of desserts including for example the distinction between soft, dry, aged, young, white or dark grappas.
The City of Alba
In the afternoon you can decide to relax in the beautiful and charming estate or, if time allows, go to the center of Alba and spend some free time for sightseeing and shopping.
At the end of the day your private driver will take you back to your hotel in Milan where you started your tour.
