Piedmont Barolo Wine Tour from Milan.
Discover the King of Italian Wines: Barolo, in the heart of Piedmont, 2 hour driver from Milan.
Our private tour includes two of the best local wineries. Extensive visit of the cellars, master tasting sessions with the wine makers and genuine local lunch.
Leaving from Milan, you will reach the area in a couple of hours, travelling along the Southern Piedmont and its beautiful hills typically covered with vineyards. Depending on the time of the year, the color of the landscape that surrounds you will assume different breathtaking shades of green, yellow and orange.
Roero and Nebbiolo
The first stop will be at a winery next to Alba, where will start a guided tour of the estate surrounded by the splendid wide vineyards, together with your English speaking guide you will learn about the production processes of Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Arneis which are the pearls of the Roero area. The visit will finish with a rich wine tasting session, with a set of local genuine cold and warm dishes to pair the different wines, including local ham, cheese, risotto and ravioli.
Langhe and Barolo DOCG
In the afternoon, together with your personal driver you will continue your private wine tour, driving by the town of Alba, and then to the small but World-famous village of Barolo, the capital of the ‘Langhe’ region, only separated to the ‘Roero’ by the Tanaro river. You will reach one of the most authentic local producers of Barolo wine, which can be produced only within the precise area of 11 small villages, in a very small and controlled territory. This is the only way to optain the ‘DOCG’ trademark, which proves the controlled and guaranteed area of production.
The winery sommelier will illustrate the different ‘CRUs’ of Barolo, namely the different portion of the Barolo territory give birth to important differences in the taste, color and smell of this amazing wine.
For example, some portion of land facing south will receive a more extended sun exposition and that specific wine production, will be stronger, with sweeter fruity aftertaste. Or, by contrary, another cru facing east or north, will receive less light by the sun, giving to wine a slightly bitter taste, higher acidity level and aftertastes that reminds of lime fruit, green apple or ginger. This is just one of the many detailes that make Barolo DOCG so special, the king of Italian wines. This guided tasting session will be paired witha buffet of local food products, in order to maximize the tasting experience.
A five sense experience
Sight of the infinite vineyard landscapes, touching the real local products: the grapes and the aging barrels, tasting wine and local italian food and, smelling the infinte details of these rich and deep wines, last but not least hearing about the wine production and aging processes.
Also, at both wineries, you can take the chance to buy some bottles directly from the producers, at much cheaper prices than wine stores. They offer international delivery service too.
